Dr Chunying (Sophia) Zhang

Dr Zhang is a dedicated GP Registrar who has been serving the Gippsland community since July 2020. She has worked across a variety of healthcare settings throughout the region, from Warragul to Lakes Entrance, and completed her first year of General Practice training in Lakes Entrance in 2025. She has successfully completed all RACGP Fellowship examinations and is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to her patients. Dr Zhang has extensive hospital experience gained through rotations at Latrobe Regional Hospital in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Rehabilitation, General Surgery, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, and General Practice. In 2024, she worked as an Emergency Department Registrar at West Gippsland Hospital in Warragul before commencing her GP training, further strengthening her skills in the assessment and management of a broad range of acute and chronic health conditions. She enjoys all aspects of general practice and has particular interests in musculoskeletal conditions, menopause care, women’s health, mental health, chronic disease management, early medical abortion, and skin lesion biopsy and excision. Dr Zhang is passionate about providing compassionate, patient-centred care and supporting patients to achieve the best possible health outcomes. Having lived in Gippsland since 2009, Dr Zhang and her family are proud to call the region home. She values building long-term relationships with her patients and is dedicated to serving the local community with kindness, respect, and professionalism. Dr Zhang is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Japanese, enabling her to provide care to patients from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
