Dr Kirubendran Tharmalingam, known to his patients as Dr Ben, is an experienced GP Registrar who has proudly served the Gippsland community over the past three years. During this time, he has worked extensively as an Emergency Department Doctor at Sale Hospital and several other rural hospitals across Victoria, providing high-quality care in a range of acute and rural healthcare settings.

Dr Ben graduated with Honours in MBBS from Sri Lanka in 2008. Prior to moving to Australia, he successfully operated his own private family practice for more than 13 years while also maintaining an extensive role in emergency medicine. This combination of primary care and hospital experience has equipped him with a broad and comprehensive clinical skill set.

He is known for combining thorough, evidence-based medical care with a warm, compassionate, and patient-centred approach. Dr Ben enjoys all aspects of general practice and supports patients with acute illnesses and injuries, chronic disease management, preventive health, lifestyle medicine, and overall wellbeing.

Outside of medicine, Dr Ben enjoys playing local sports in Sale, exploring the outdoors, and sharing his passion for music. He is fluent in English, Sinhala, and Tamil, allowing him to provide care to patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
